Full Review - LeBron 16

The King has spoken. It’s time for a sixteenth installment for the signature shoe of arguably the best basketball player of all time. The LeBron 16 embodies greatness from start to finish despite taking a detour from the signature shoe’s traditional look. That’s right, the LeBron is now a low-cut shoe. Unlike its high-top predecessors, the LeBron 16 takes the court with a low-profile, lightweight build that emphasizes a faster fit. Great lockdown and reinforcement round out this top-notch, yet expensive, shoe from the King himself.

Traction

These shoes are fit for a king, literally, so you know that everything about them is incredible. The LeBron 16 has an aggressive traction pattern that helps you keep your grip on the hardwood. Even when you’re down 3-1 in the Finals. With the excellent traction that these shoes provide you’ll never slip when the game is on the line. As a bonus, the King’s logo is worked into the tread, so you can silently leave your mark wherever you play.

Support

We already mentioned that these shoes are unlike the LeBrons that have come before. These are a low-top version that puts more emphasis on speed and a dynamic fit. It’s interesting to see how these shoes have adapted with LeBron as his playing style has changed in the past few years. Fortunately, this is still a great shoe for any player and has something that will up your game. The combo of support and responsiveness make stepping into these shoes like stepping into the spotlight. Finally, the tongue and lacing make it possible to lockdown when you need to and wear the shoe loosely when you’re off the court.

Materials

Like most Nike products, this shoe makes use of proprietary materials that make it durable and enhance its performance. For example, the FlyWire cables that wrap around the midfoot make adaptive containment of your foot possible even in stressful situations. Battleknit 2.0 construction (a badass name to start with) makes these shoes lightweight yet strong enough to keep your foot secure during the game. Finally, the pattern of the uppers on the LeBron 16 has a unique zig-zag that looks great.

Comfort

Even by looking at them, you can tell that these shoes are comfortable. The Max Air and Zoom Air units (that’s right, two types of air) built into the sole make for ultimate cushioning and comfort. With each step, as each minute of the game goes on, you’ll be left feeling springy and light even when your opponents start dragging their feet. The full-bootie construction on these shoes also adds a secure, comfortable feel versus more lightweight knit shoes on the market. Reinforcement worked into the upper make you feel comfortably locked in as well.

Sole Decision

The LeBron 16 is the newest installment in a long line of excellent basketball shoes. This new low-top design makes it a good choice for guards as well as forwards thanks to its lightweight yet secure construction and plenty of cushion.

If you’re serious about your game and don’t mind spending up for quality, then these shoes are for you.
