Full Review - Adidas Harden Vol. II

The Beard himself has more than just some stellar facial hair. He also happens to have an awesome custom shoe from Adidas. Named after the Houston Rockets star himself, the Harden Vol. II is, as the name suggests, the second iteration of James’ signature shoe.

From the Adidas boost sole to the flexible support cages on each side, these shoes scream support and stability. We also happen to love the sweet colorways that these kicks come in. Whether you’re opting for Rockets red or are looking for something a bit unique with a teal/coral/purple scheme, you’re in luck. Trust the Beard.

Traction

If you’ve ever watched Harden play, you know that his unique mix of Eurosteps, crossovers, and stepbacks is deadly on the court. Now, with this sci-fi looking sole, you can get in your bag the same way. The traction pattern is actually data-based on Harden's own foot pressure during play.  Overall, most experts agree that the traction is a bit disappointing, and not up to the standard set by the Harden Vol. 1.  Some have even mentioned that the color of the outsole is factor in how well the traction pattern works on the Harden Vol. 2, with white outsoles working best.

Support

The biggest highlight of these shoes is the support they offer. From buzzer to buzzer, these shoes offer lightweight comfort and excellent bounce. One of the coolest features is the custom lacing options provided by the stability cages on the side. Rather than just one set of eyelets, you can run your laces through an entire array of holes in the side cage. This gives you precise control over how this shoe fits your own foot. Finally, Adidas’ custom Forgefiber is built into the upper features TPU-coated fibers that provide ideal support around your foot without sacrificing flexibility. Whether you’re spinning around an opponent, driving to the rack, or stepping back into a three, these shoes are built to go with you.

Materials

First, we’ll point out the Boost sole on the bottom. This unique material from Adidas is designed to return energy efficiently. The more you put in, the more you’ll get out. This high-tech material saves you energy and makes your moves even faster. We love the unique look of these shoes and the diverse colorways they come in.

Comfort

Another unique material design in the Harden Vol. II is the sock-like interior. This gives the shoe a snug, soft feel that surrounds your foot in comfort from the inside out. From heel to toe this shoe is engineered for comfort no matter what. From the outside, they even look comfy. Thanks to the many ways the Harden Vol. II is made to custom fit your foot, you’ll experience ultimate comfort from these shoes on and off the court.

Sole Decision

The Harden Vol. II is a shoe with comfort and performance in mind. They aren’t as lightweight as some other low-top shoes, but they make up for it with a custom fit and excellent support.

These shoes are great for guards with quick moves but have enough support that they could be used by a big man in less intense play environments.
