Full Review - Adidas Harden Vol. 3

The Harden Vol. 3 is a very unassuming shoe on first glance. However, don’t let its simple looks fool you. This shoe is a powerhouse on the court and performs exceptionally in all areas. As the old saying goes, “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.”

While shoe companies can’t quite get away with not changing anything, Adidas opted to keep things simple with this shoe and it paid off.

Traction

The sole of the Harden Vol. 3 is covered in herringbone. From heel to toe there is quite a bit of the pattern as the grooves are packed tightly together.

Though it does perform well, the pattern is almost a bit too tight.

You’ll probably find yourself doing some wiping to keep dust away.

Regardless, the traction isn’t a problem and you definitely won’t have issues with slipping on your cuts and direction changes.

Support

For a low top shoe the Harden Vol. 3 has a lot of support working for it.

The flat base is very stable and a torsion spring plate runs from heel to forefoot.

The upper wraps around your foot, cradling it in with great lockdown.

Finally, there is an internal heel counter as well so you won’t be twisting your ankles anytime soon.

We can’t say so much for your defenders.

Materials

The knit material used in this shoe is really unique. It actually mimics leather but eliminates the need to break it in.

It’s similar to what is used in the LeBron 16 from Nike but is still unique in its own right.

Despite the fact that most of the shoe is fabric, it holds up well and is thick and strong.

There’s no dead space within the shoe and it perfectly conforms to your food.

One strange thing is the elastic band across the forefoot. It actually serves no purpose other than being a design element. Really, nothing at all.

Oh well, it still looks cool.

Comfort

The sole of the Harden Vol. 3 is made from Adidas’ proprietary Boost material.

This is one of the most well-balanced materials in any shoe and certainly the best that Adidas has come up with.

The transition from heel to toe is smooth, soft, and stable. The court feel is similarly perfect. Not too bouncy, not too firm.

The Harden Vol. 3’s cushion is just right.

One of our all-time favorites.

Sole Decision

If you don’t mind the simple appearance of this shoe then you’ll love the high performance it puts out.

Thanks to Adidas’ proprietary materials like Boost and a unique knit, the Harden Vol. 3 is awesome.

Its terrific cushion, all-around support, and solid traction make the shoe a great one.
